ONCUE SETUP GUIDE

From invitation to first recording.

This is the setup checklist for anyone joining OnCue. A viewer only needs the share link—viewers do not need an account or the Mac app.

YOUR FIRST ONCUE VIDEO

Create, connect, and record.

Use the same email address that received the invitation. Your OnCue email-and-password account is all you need.

Accept the invitation

Open the email titled You’re invited to OnCue, choose Create my account, and create a password of at least 10 characters.

Verify your email

Open OnCue’s verification message before signing in. If it is not in your inbox, check spam and confirm you used the invited email address.

Install the Mac app

Unzip the OnCue Mac app, move it to Applications, and open it. If macOS warns about the app, Control-click it in Finder, choose Open, then confirm.

Connect your account

Choose Connect account in the app. OnCue opens a browser page; sign in if asked and choose Authorize this Mac. Return to the app when it says the Mac is ready.

Choose recording settings

Select the camera, microphone, countdown sound, and video quality. The separate Camera appearance row shows the saved style; choose Customize to open a centered panel with full-width shape, size, and color previews. The same controls remain available while recording. When you start, Apple's picker lets you choose a full display or one app window. OnCue remembers your choices.

Finish and share

After editing, choose Done editing. OnCue uploads the video, opens My Recordings, and keeps a local copy in Movies › Steady, the existing storage folder retained so earlier recordings stay in place.

Sharing is simple. Copy the link from My Recordings and send it. The recipient can watch without creating an OnCue account.
FIRST RECORDING

Allow the three Mac permissions.

macOS may ask more than once during the first setup. Approve each request, then fully quit and reopen OnCue if macOS asks you to.

Screen & System Audio

Required to record a full display or an individual window.

Camera

Required only when the floating camera is turned on.

Microphone

Required only when voice recording is turned on.

Manage these later in System Settings › Privacy & Security. If a source is still missing after approval, quit OnCue completely and reopen it.
TROUBLESHOOTING

If setup does not finish.

Your original recording stays on the Mac even if an upload fails.

“OnCue is invite-only”

Ask the owner to invite the exact email address you are using. A different alias or work email will not match.

The Connect account page expires

Start Connect account again in the Mac app and approve the newly opened browser page. Each connection code is temporary.

Camera, microphone, or screen is unavailable

Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, enable OnCue for the missing permission, then quit and reopen the app.

An upload fails or storage is full

Find the video in your Movies folder. Free cloud space or ask the owner to raise the account limit, then use Upload existing in the Mac app or website.

The invitation email did not arrive

Check spam, confirm the spelling with the owner, and ask the owner to send the invitation again. The newest invitation replaces the old one.
